1-yr Bare Root Seedlings

We are now taking orders for Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima) including Chinese-type hybrid seedlings, and Japanese chestnut (Castanea crenata) seedlings. The Chinese chestnuts are our standard for nut production, selected for kernel quality, large nut size, robust tree growth, and high disease resistance. The Japanese chestnut seedlings are derived mostly from stock obtained from the Korean Institute of Forest Genetics, plus a few Japanese trees obtained from Connecticut and Pennsylvania.  Nut quality from these Japanese trees is good (easy peeling and sweet) by Japanese chestnut standards, but probably not as good as typical Chinese chestnuts.
