Roasted Chestnuts


  • 1 lb fresh culinary chestnuts
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • salt to taste
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F)/190 degrees (C)
  2. Cut chestnuts crisscross on the flat side of each nut. Be sure to cut through the shell (to prevent explosions)
  3. Place nuts in a baking pan
  4. Bake 25-30 minutes
  5. Allow to cool before peeling shells
  6. Place nuts into a skillet with butter and salt and heat until butter is melted and chestnuts are well-coated.
  7. Sprinkle with salt and cinnamon and enjoy!
